For my first week on the job with the Motorcycle Industry Council, I had the opportunity to attend the Indianapolis MotoGP that took place August 16-18 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was event 11 of 19 in the 2013 MotoGP World Championship.
I also got to attend the media event with Ben Spies, an American MotoGP competitor from Texas. He went into the Indy event after coming back from injury. Unfortunately, Spies suffered a crash in practice and was unable to compete in the main event.
As far as results, it was the 20-year-old rookie Mark Marquez who took the MotoGP win, with Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo in second and third respectively.
